Announced on August 20, 2026, out of Prague, this release marks the end of a seven-year wait for Nintendo fans eager to experience the gritty, high-stakes open-world simulator. Arriving digitally as the DayZ Cool Edition, the port was developed in close collaboration with Virtuos Labs – Prague to deliver a full-featured, handheld survival experience without compromising on scale or mechanics.
Whether you are a seasoned survivor who has spent thousands of hours in Chernarus or a newcomer stepping into the apocalypse for the first time, this new version offers the complete sandbox package alongside impressive technical upgrades tailored specifically for the Switch 2 hardware.
Included Maps, Content, and Server Specifications
The DayZ Cool Edition serves as a massive content bundle right out of the gate. Rather than launching with just the base game, this edition packages both the core title and the popular DayZ Frostline expansion together. Players gain immediate access to three massive, distinct environments:
- Chernarus: The legendary, post-Soviet 225 km² terrain that started it all, filled with dense forests, abandoned military bases, and coastal towns.
- Livonia: A lush, landlocked 163 km² region characterized by overgrown ruins, expansive hunting grounds, and frequent rainstorms.

On Nintendo Switch 2, official servers support up to 60 players simultaneously on both Chernarus and Livonia. Due to the dense environmental conditions and hazard mechanics on Sakhal, server caps for the frozen map are set at 50 players. Additionally, players who want custom loot tables, private roleplay rules, or tailored spawn settings can rent and manage community servers hosted via Nitrado.
