Platinum Roadmap
- Stage 1 – Insane Co-op Campaign & Collectibles: Start your playthrough on Insane difficulty with a co-op partner (local or online). Focus on grabbing all PC-exclusive collectibles and completing the extra campaign missions to knock out the story, co-op, difficulty, and collectible trophies in one efficient sweep.
- Stage 2 – Offline Cleanup via Chapter Select: If you missed any specific combat feats, miscellaneous single-player trophies, or a stray collectible, utilize Chapter Select. You can lower the difficulty to breeze through this step.
- Stage 3 – The Multiplayer & “Seriously” Grind: Transition to online matchmaking. You will spend the vast majority of your 100+ hours here winning matches across all 20 maps and slowly grinding your way to 10,000 online kills for the infamous Seriously 1.0 trophy.
Key Trophy Tactics & Strategy
Campaign & Co-op Exploits
- The Insane Co-op Loophole: If you are struggling with Insane difficulty, you can manipulate the co-op settings to make it easier.
- Online Co-op: Player 1 can play on Insane while Player 2 plays on a lower difficulty. Player 1 will earn the Insane trophies, and Player 2 will earn trophies for their respective difficulty.
- Local Co-op: If Player 1 is on Insane and Player 2 (using a different account) is on Easy, both players will earn the Insane trophy upon completion. If using a guest account for Player 2, the main profile remains on Insane while the guest clears out enemies on Easy.
Multiplayer Tracking & Mechanics
- Manual Tracking is Mandatory: The in-game War Journal does not track specific trophy progress accurately. The Statistics page mixes private and public match data, which can ruin your counts. Create a manual checklist or spreadsheet to track your map wins, weapon executions, and gametype victories. You do not want to be stuck at 19/20 map wins with no idea which map you are missing.
- The “Seriously 1.0” Grind: You need 10,000 kills in competitive online matchmaking. There is no shortcut for this. Pace yourself, stick to high-kill gametypes, and rely on your manual tracker to monitor your progress toward the 10K mark.
- Annex / King of the Hill Update: Thanks to Title Update 1, progress for Annex-related trophies can now be earned in public Social or Competitive matches under the King of the Hill (KOTH) or Blitz gametypes. You can also still boost these in private matches if preferred.
- Second Controller Boosting: A handful of the multiplayer trophies can be completed using a second controller in local/private lobbies. Use this to quickly knock out weapon-specific executions or revives if you are struggling to get them in live matchmaking.

If you happen to miss a specific segment, open the Mission Select screen to track your progress. Completed chapters display a special icon, which resembles the Insane difficulty symbol shown here.
Since there are 33 COG tags scattered throughout the game, you can easily unlock this early on during Act 1. Collectible progress is saved instantly, so you can use the Chapter Select menu to grab any tags you missed and quit the level immediately after picking them up.

While the original Xbox 360 release featured 30 tags, three extra items have been integrated from the PC version’s campaign chapters—averaging roughly one per act. Missing any won’t lock you out permanently; you can replay via chapter select at any time. Monitor your progress via the War Journal menu under COG Tags, which maps out the comic pages.Picks are registered instantly upon collection, meaning deaths or reloads won’t reset your progress. Numerous community guides are readily available online to pinpoint every location.
Press R1 to trigger a reload, watching the marker sweep across the indicator in the top-right corner. The solid white zone highlights the exact timing window for a perfect reload; tap R1 again right inside this window. This rewards you with bonus weapon damage for the newly loaded magazine. You’ll easily knock this out during the opening acts.
Execute the same reload technique five consecutive times without error. Weapons like the Lancer or Hammerburst offer a forgiving sweet spot, whereas pistols require very fast inputs that might challenge beginners. You can practice this right at the start of the game by firing a few rounds and tapping R1.
This won’t happen passively through normal playthroughs, so expect a bit of farming using explosives like grenades, the Boomshot, or the Hammer of Dawn.
An ideal farming spot is right in Act 1, Chapter 1 during the tutorial sequence. As Locust plasma-cut through the doorway, let the door drop to let three grubs flood the room, then toss a grenade at their feet. Clean house, restart checkpoint, and repeat. Alternatively, check out video guides for other effective spots in Act 2.
Read the I Can’t Quit You Dom section below for cooperative setup options.
Consult the I Can’t Quit You Dom entry below for details on co-op progression.
You need to play through all 36 acts in a cooperative environment, which can be accomplished locally using split-screen with two controllers or online via random matchmatching or community boosting threads.
When an ally takes too much damage, they enter a downed state. Walk up to them and press the square button when prompted to pick them back up and return them to the fight.
Simply join and play through to the completion of any online match to secure this easy reward.

Performed exclusively in online multiplayer by pressing L3 while aiming at opponents to tag them with an indicator for your team. Focus on high-traffic choke points where teammates can easily secure kills on your spotted targets. Only one enemy can be spotted at a time.
Playing single-round modes like KotH or Blitz simplifies this requirement entirely, though standard modes work if your squad dominates completely. Private matches are excluded.
A massive grind restricted to Competitive matches. King of the Hill is ideal due to its score-based format rather than kill limits. Alternatively, boost with a friend using two controllers in 2v2 Gnasher execution matches by queueing simultaneously in a quiet regional server.
Finish 100 ring-based matches while capturing at least three objectives per game. You can knock this out quickly using a private Blitz match with a second controller on a small map, ensuring you meet the capture requirement against an idle bot within minutes.
Blank the enemy team entirely during a round in public or private ring-based modes without letting them score a single point.
Win 25 matches on the compact Boxes map, typically featured in the competitive 2v2 Gnasher Execution playlist.

Collect COG tags to unlock pages for the game’s five comics. Open a completed comic via the Extras menu, flip through all pages using R2 to the very end, and use the zoom function if needed to ensure it registers.
A brutal co-op challenge where both players must survive the General RAAM fight on Insane without entering a downed state. A proven tactic involves one player firing Torque Bow arrows to clear away RAAM’s Kryll shield while the other lands perfect active-reload headshots with sniper fire.
Equip a custom weapon skin on the loadout screen before entering any Versus match. If you lack skins, participating during launch windows or utilizing backwards compatibility unlocks rewards automatically.
Win 25 public Team Deathmatch games by depleting the enemy’s shared extra life pool and wiping out remaining spawns. Private matches do not count toward this goal.
Located in Act 3, Chapter 1 near the circular monument plaza. You must quickly seal all four emergence holes as they appear before any Locust manage to crawl out. Doing this on Casual difficulty makes the timing much easier.
Finished automatically right at the start of the game during the introductory tutorial sequence.
