Devil May Cry 5 Trophy Guide & Roadmap

Master the game with our Devil May Cry 5 Trophy Guide & Roadmap. Find all secret missions, S-rank strategies, and unlock the Platinum trophy easily.

Welcome to the Devil May Cry 5 Trophy Guide! What makes this platinum a notorious 10/10 difficulty is the strict requirement to earn S-Ranks on Hell and Hell difficulty. In this punishing mode, you die in one single hit while enemies boast the same amount of health as they do in Son of Sparda (4x standard health).

You are only granted 3 retries per mission. Taking even a single hit voids your S-Rank since you lose the no-hits and no-continues multiplier. To compound the challenge, utilizing the Infinite Devil Trigger reduces your final rank by -80%, making the S-rank mathematically unobtainable. Be prepared to repeat S-Ranks on all other difficulties (except Heaven or Hell). If you simply wish to beat the game, you can still easily earn up to 82% of the trophies in about 30 hours.

Difficulty Tiers Breakdown

  • Human: 100% health & 100% damage.
  • Devil Hunter: 200% health & 200% damage. (Unlocks Son of Sparda)
  • Son of Sparda: 400% health & 400% damage. Faster attacks, advanced enemy spawns. (Unlocks Dante Must Die & “Irregular Full Custom” skill)
  • Dante Must Die: 800% health & 800% damage. Highest enemy aggression. (Unlocks Heaven or Hell, Hell and Hell, & Infinite Devil Trigger)
  • Heaven or Hell: You and enemies die instantly in 1 hit.
  • Hell and Hell: You die in 1 hit. 3 revives per mission. Enemies retain Son of Sparda stats. Checkpoints are disabled.

Step 1: Human Difficulty Playthrough & Collectibles

Beat the game on the lowest difficulty (“Human”) to unlock Son of Sparda. Along the way, ensure you gather all Collectibles to knock out the exploration trophies:

  • 12 Secret MissionsSecrets Exposed trophy
  • 32 Blue Orb FragmentsPhysical Perfection trophy (Max Health)
  • 8 Purple Orb FragmentsThe Devil’s Own trophy (Max Devil Trigger)

Work on mission-specific trophies as you progress. If you miss anything, utilize chapter select immediately or clean up on subsequent playthroughs. Secure as many S-Ranks as possible now to reduce later replays (avoid deaths and checkpoint restarts for a x1.20 score multiplier).

Step 2: Devil Hunter Difficulty

On Devil Hunter, enemies have 200% health and deal 200% damage. Play through this difficulty naturally, working on any miscellaneous trophies you might have missed previously. Prioritize S-Ranks where possible.

Step 3: Son of Sparda Difficulty

Enemies now have 400% health and damage, attack at a much faster rate, and utilize deadlier spawn compositions. Beating this mode unlocks the “Irregular Full Custom” skill for Dante, which is strictly required for completing all of his skills. Expect to die more frequently; use gold or red orbs for revives if necessary, as S-Ranks become significantly harder in this tier.

Step 4: Farm 3,000,000+ Red Orbs & Unlock Skills

In preparation for Dante Must Die, you must farm at least 3,000,000 Red Orbs. There are 3 distinct characters, and each features a master ability costing 3 Million Orbs.

Save Backup Exploit: Backup your save data to the cloud or a USB drive. Buy the skills for one character, pop the trophy, restore the original save, and repeat for the next character. While doing this, acquire the “Dante The Gambler” trophy by firing 500,000 red orbs with the Dr. Faust weapon, then restore your save to reclaim your currency.

Step 5: Dante Must Die Difficulty

Enemies possess 800% health and deal 800% damage. Utilize your heavily farmed Red Orbs to pay your way through the toughest encounters. The most expensive red orb revive deals massive damage, erasing roughly 30% of a boss’s health bar upon activation. Clearing this unlocks the “Super” costumes (Infinite Devil Trigger) and the final two difficulty modifiers.

Step 6: Heaven or Hell Difficulty

In this mode, everything—including you and all bosses—dies in 1 hit. This serves as a rapid playthrough. Simply shoot everything from a distance with your firearms. You will also earn the secret prologue ending for killing the first boss (I’ll Be Damned trophy).

Step 7: Hell and Hell Difficulty

The ultimate platinum blocker. You die in 1 hit, but enemies retain their beefy 400% health and damage stats from Son of Sparda. There are no checkpoints and you possess only 3 lives per mission. You may use the Infinite Devil Trigger to simply beat the mode, but S-Ranks will require a flawless, no-hit run without the Super costume.

Step 8: S-Ranks & Mop-Up

For the “Worthy of Legend” trophy, clear all missions with an S-Rank on all difficulties (except Heaven or Hell). A guaranteed strategy to secure an S-Rank regardless of style points is a no-hit run (x2.00 multiplier + x1.20 for no checkpoint restarts = x3.20 final score multiplier). Use chapter select to mop up any remaining trophies you might have missed.
